Mission

Our mission is to promote broadcast journalism careers to youth, empower young women and improve the quality of life for animals. We intend to do this while reaching the needs of our community.

Our vision is to touch the lives of people that share the same principles that Lauren personified during her time with us.

Biography

Grew up with the gift of gab and translated that talent, along with the ability and willingness to listen to people, into a promising broadcast journalism career.



As a student, Lauren worked at WTIU in Bloomington, IN and interned at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis. After graduating from Indiana University, she worked worked as a Weekend Anchor for WLFI in Lafayette, IN before becoming a much loved reporter for WCMH in Columbus, Ohio. Lauren had also interned with Indiana Black Expo and had worked part-time for the Heart Center of Indiana.



WCMH News Director, Stan Sanders wrote, "Lauren was a true treasure. She loved life and helping her co-workers, friends and young people. Her passion for journalism was pure and she always strived to do her best, each and every day. Her spirit and positive approach to everything was inspiring; she will be missed by all."

 

Crowner, the 2002 Indianapolis 500 Festival queen and the first black woman to win the title.
